Blog notes:

Attention travaux.

2025/12/22: Past the lowest point

Yesterday was the winter solstice in the northern emisphere. My past week has been one of the worst since the sun started going south. It's been almost two months since I started working again.

Tomorrow is the last day before a 5-day holidays. The week ahead will most likely be full of events to manage through if everything goes as planned. I think I will hold another year. I will hold another year.

I've tried and tried again to write and follow new year resolutions, to make it special, but it never worked for me. Habits come and go through the seasons, I shouldn't expect myself to shake out my bedding every freezy winter morning. Nevertheless, the winter solstice, new year, the holidays, it's hard not to look at the events that made me end up here.

I made a new notebook yesterday. It's pretty and has the same gradient as my blog (wrong).
I use it to take notes, to doodle and to keep my tram ticket. This way I keep memories somewhere in my room. No one gets to read it but me.

Picture of said notebook before a black background. It features a pink and blue gradient on its cover.

I'm listening to lots of music. The 3 latest albums I listened to are:

  1. Metro Boomin – Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
  2. Sweet Trip – You Will Never Know Why
  3. AURORA – What Happened To The Heart?

I'm playing through the first Planet of Lana, which is cute, and started splaying Death Stranding earlier this month. I love the atmosphere and the walking.

I've started writing some new blog posts, that will come in the next few days. I like what I started to write. You may expect: cooking, language learning and other nerd stuff.

Take care in these dark days, the sun will rise again

2025/11/16: MEITANTEI CONAN

I finally got to watch the latest Detective Conan movie yesterday, this has been a yearly event for a while now. I hope they will continue to release it in theaters in France even though it didn't even break 10k entries

2025/11/09: 22 games to get to know me

Yes, 22. This is the text version of a picture I posted on the fediverse (cw: in french).

2025/11/02: Choosing to follow RSS

I think it's been about a year since I started using RSS regularly to follow various blogs, websites, videos and sometime the news. This is a note about how I used RSS this past year.

Following RSS feeds

I used to have an app on my phone, but then I removed most apps from my phone. Since I set up Yunohost on my home server, I've been using FreshRSS.
If you don't have somewhere to self-host FreshRSS, you can still use a community server, or another app directly on your phone/computer.
FreshRSS is my RSS feed aggregator, I open it in my browser every so often to check what's up.
It seems very powerful if I ever had different needs, but for now I only use it's most basic functions: adding new feeds, sorting them into categories, reading posts, adding favourites and exporting lists for backup purposes.

Finding feeds

Most blogs and other IndieWeb-adjacent websites display the rss logo proudly somewhere on their landing page. Copy-paste-done.
But it happens that I can't find it. If so, I try and add either feed.xml or rss at the end of the url. Works often.

Generating feeds

Sometimes, there is no feed. That's where tools like rss-bridge are very useful. I use it to follow Youtube playlists, but I know that there's a big number of community bridges to follow tons of websites.

Handwriting my RSS feed

Stumbled upon this article while discovering Everest Pipkin's website last week. I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one to handwrite my feed. I don't need some fancy script or app to write this for me.

2025/10/26: Ten facts about me

Today, Sunday the 26th was the end of the daylight saving time period. I woke up early.
Right now it's 10pm. I'll stay up late. So I might as well write a little, I tried yesterday but didn't go far. So to take it easy I'll do what I've seen James and Alex write the other day.

Tea, coffee, or water?

Tea, because I love tea.
I share tea with friends.
My favourite tea is "Ruby 18" from Sun Moon Lake in Taïwan.

Footwear preference?

old sneakers

Favourite dessert?

Éclair à la vanille. It's what I get on my birthday.

The first thing you do when you wake up?

I check the weather by the window.

How many hats do you own?

Three.
Two caps, one from Beijing I bought in 2018, one from the schooner Recouvrance my grandpa bought me in early 2000s. And a beanie I bought last winter.

Describe the last photo you took.

A picture of a friend, sitting on her couch, using a shoe box on her lap as a mousepad.
She's wearing all black; sweatshirt, leggings and a beanie because it's cold.

Best TV show.

Yes I changed this one, I do the rules here. These last few years, Slow Horses.
Else Avatar: the last airbender, which I originally watched on my Nintendo DS lite.

Do you floss your teeth?

No, I don't understand how this works.
I wash my teeth three times a day with a three-minute hourglass, I believe that's enough.

2025/08/31: World Blog Day

Today, the 31st of august is World Blog Day! Because if you use the Gregorian calendar and the day-month-year sequence, the 31st of august, 3108, kinda looks like BLOG.
